What We're About

Although subjects like math and English are very important and prepare children for a bright future, arts classes like music class are a crucial piece of a well-rounded education and opens kids' eyes to a whole new world of creative possibilities.

All of us as members of Receipt have had the privilege of having amazing opportunities in our music classes, having been exposed to a variety of instruments and music styles from an early age, which then inspired us to explore music more when we were older. We thoroughly enjoyed taking music classes at school, so keeping them fun and engaging for students is something that matters a whole lot for us.

The Reality for Many Schools

For many schools, where funding is already limited, districts often have to prioritize core academic subjects like math and English when allocating budgets. As a result, arts programs like music are frequently left with less support and resources.

Because of this, music programs face constant challenges. Instruments are often worn down or have to be shared between students, and sometimes even unavailable entirely. This can make it harder for students to express themselves creatively and potentially find their lifelong passions.

Our Hope

Our hope for the future is that every child in school has the chance to engage in a fully-funded music program and discover their passion for this very important art.

Thus, all proceeds from our performances will go to local Title I schools' music programs for instrument purchases and upgrades.

All in all, our mission is simple: play great music and make sure every kid has the chance to play too.
